Durable Technologies provided Magdelan House, a 80,000 sq feet office facility that was refurbished in 2006 for Sefton Council with an energy reduction of 50%
The Lighting Controls installed was the Electrak Lightrak KNX system comprising of Electrak FFD050 Lighting Controls Modules and Electrak FFB040 Movement Detectors. The entire installation was controlled by movement detectors providing on/off switching. As part of Sefton Councils energy drive Gary Evans from Capita Symonds required that the operating philosophy be changed to Absence Detection in the majority of the building with Movement Detector override in others. The Absence Detection function was not achievable with the Electrak system so the Wago Ethernet Controller was added with two Wago KNX TP1 modules. In addition and interface to the intruder alarm was introduced to turn all lights off in the building when the alarm was set.
Meter readings for the building was taken for 4 weeks before the work was undertaken and again for 4 weeks after the work was completed. The average weekly consumption before was 11984.975 KW/h per week and after was 5922.75 KW/h per week. An annual saving of 307983 KW/h. 167918 Kg CO2
DPK1000 Presence Detectors were used to replace the faulty Electrak FFC040 Movement Detectors.
