The Durable Technologies Modular Wiring Systems are a standard practice for lighting installations in commercial and industrial buildings. 

Modular Wiring Systems comprise of pre-manufactured pluggable cables manufactured off site so that on site installation merely involves plugging in the various components. A typical installation of Durable Technologies Lighting Controls will comprise of an Intelligent Marshalling Box with Switches, Sensors and Lights plugged in with modular leads. The lights would normally have a T piece fitted to allow through connections.

Modular Wiring and the DLC100/150/200 Intelligent Marshalling Boxes allow for a complete installation with the minimum number of components ensuring design flexibility, ease of maintainence  and fast installation. Typically this combination will reduce cable in the ceiling by 50% and reduce installation costs by 50%.

Daylight Harvesting The DLC200 uses the DLS200 sensor head to sample light levels and constantly adjusts artificial output to augment natural light from windows, giving steady, comfortable illumination while achieving energy reductions of between 20% to 60%

Offset Dimming an extension of daylight harvesting, Offset Dimming works with up to 3 lighting circuits to tier the rate of dimming. Even only using one DLS200 sensor in a room, the DLC200 calculates individual lighting levels for up to three lighting circuits, typically three rows of lights stepping back from the window, further reducing energy needs.

Two Stage Time-Out Switching lamps on/off more than 8 times in 24 hours can drastically reduce their operational life, quickly eliminating any energy cost savings. The DLC200 uses Two Stage Time-Out to prolong fluorescent lamp operational life, by dimming lights in low traffic areas that must maintain always-on illumination (like hotel corridors) by 90%, switching back to full power when presence is detected. This gives energy savings AND increased lamp life, yielding true, dramatic cost benefits.

Presence and Absence Detection Using the DLS200 sensor, the DLC200 automatically switches on lights when an area becomes occupied and automatically switch them off again when the area becomes unoccupied. No switches required. This technique is ideal for large, open plan areas, corridors etc. Absence Detection goes beyond the energy savings of presence detection by utilising a conventional wall switch to turn lights on and off as normal, but with presence detection always ensuring lights are switched off once the area is vacated. Great for offices and conference rooms. When used with Two Stage Time-Out, occupants are not plunged into darkness without warning, the Two Stage Time-Out indicating the impending lights-out situation to occupants.

Auxiliary Output Use the presence detection of DLC200 and DLS200 combination to drive other applications, for instance switching on/off the HVAC when a room is occupied/vacated. 

Low Cost Scene Settings Scene Setting is a common feature of Lighting Controllers, but competitor products require costly switcheswith 4 or more buttons. The DLC200 uses low cost single button conventional wall switches to achieve Scene Setting, saving at least 90% of the cost per switch compared to the multi-function alternatives

Presence Detection The DLC150 Intelligent Mashalling Box with Daylight harvesting uses DLS200/210 PIR Presence Detectors to automatically switch on the lights when an area becomes occupied and automatically switches them off again when the area becomes unoccupied

No switches are needed and this technique is ideal for large open plan areas, corridors etc.

Absence Detection Utilising a conventional wall switch working in conjunction with Presence Detectors the DLC150 Light Control Module with Daylight Harvesting can turn lights on and off as normal, but always ensures the light is never left on once the area is vacated.

Great for cellular offices, meeting rooms etc.

Shared Sensor Output When there is a small area that only requires one Presence Detector it is common to add a second sensor to control the Daylight Linking. The DLC150 allows for one sensor to provide Presence for multiple outputs whilst allowing the Light Sensor to independently switch the outputs off when the required light level is exceeded. Up to three levels of light can be set using the Offset function.

Emergency Test When a building’s emergency lights are supported by an internal battery the charging circuit needs a dedicated AC power supply. This is provided as standard on all outputs eliminating the need for a separate circuit, reducing installation and infrastructure costs.

To comply with statutory testing the DLC150 Intelligent Marshalling Box with Daylight Harvesting has the internal test function as standard allowing individual modules or large groups to be tested simultaneously using a single key switch, simulating a power cut.

The DPK1000 Presence Detecting Kit is a highly sensitive and minature product developed specifically for interfacing to other systems.  In it's standard form it is 100% compatible with the Electrak Lightrak series of Lighting Controls including LK0809; LK0811, FFD050, FFD052, FFD054, FFD055, FFD057. It is compatible with other Lighting Control Modules and is available on request. It is suitable for upgrading older installations to bring them up to current energy requirements and is for applications in commercial buildings and office environments, such as:

  • Light Level Sensing
